MARCH 2020

As of Monday March 23, we are unable to perform any dental procedures outside of emergency measures for the relief of pain or infection.  Therefore, all appointments are postponed until further notice.  Rest assured that we will catch up for any time lost as soon as we can.  In the meantime, here are a few tips for our current patients:

Braces Patients:

The most important thing is to make sure you are keeping your teeth and gums healthy and clean.

Pay attention to our eating guidelines to avoid having any breakage.  Avoid sticky and chewy foods.

If you have a wire poking, do your best to trim it using cuticle scissors or nail clippers.  Contact us if you are unable to fix the issue.

If you have a bracket come loose, as long as you are not experiencing discomfort, we will get it back on at your next appointment.

Invisalign Patients:

Continue to wear your aligners as prescribed.  We will contact you to coordinate handing out remaining aligners.

If you get through all of your aligners, wear your last set of aligners just at night until we can get you in for another appointment.

Expander Patients:

Continue to do your turns as prescribed.  Once you are done with those turns, stop turning until your next appointment. If you have any issues, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Herbst Patients:

The Herbst is a self-limiting appliance and will be fine to stay in place until we can see you again.  Just make sure you are brushing properly and avoid anything that could break the appliance.

Retainer Patients:

Keep wearing them as prescribed. Contact us if you have any issues.

Emergency after hours:

During this time, we will have reduced office hours.  If you have an emergency outside of these hours, please visit our website for directions on how to get in touch with your orthodontist.

Given the outbreak of COVID-19, Fravel Brewer Orthodontics has made the difficult, but important, decision to postpone any non-emergent appointments. You can be assured that this decision was not made lightly but was made to protect patients, staff and families.

Given this closure, you may have a few questions and we are here to provide answers.

Will this delay my treatment?

We know part of successful orthodontic treatment is showing up for your appointments. Even though this is not currently an option, don’t panic.

Though your appointments are scheduled out to achieve maximum success, this hiccup shouldn’t have much of an impact on your treatment plan.

We will work hard to get your treatment plan back on track when we are able to reopen.

Some things you can do to ensure your treatment plan will get back on track quickly include:

·         Be diligent about your braces hygiene! Make sure you are brushing your teeth appropriately and flossing after meals and snacks.

·         Stay away from forbidden foods! Being at home means more opportunities for snacking and temptation from all of the gummy, crunchy snacks you should not eat! Broken brackets will only cause your treatment to shift and while our office is closed, it will be more difficult to fix those food-related issues.

You can help keep treatment on track by following your orthodontist’s directions!

What now?

While we are unsure of when we can get back to business as usual, you can keep up with all of our update on our Facebook page and website.

We will be sure to keep all current patients updated with emails and text messages, as well. Please make sure our emails do not go to your SPAM folder.

My orthodontist said they will continue “essential dental care.” What does that mean?

If you have an urgent need during this time, such as pain or injury, please call/text our emergency line at: 407-372-3384. We will communicate directly with you regarding your concerns.

There’s a lot of uncertainty right now, but what’s one thing we know for sure?

We look forward to seeing you back in our office soon!
