Moving teeth has gone high-tech

Orthodontic treatment has changed a lot in the last 20 years, with traditional braces becoming sleeker and more comfortable, and other treatment options being added, like Invisalign and ceramic braces. The orthodontic technology used to diagnose issues, create treatment plans, and track progress has also improved.

At Fravel Brewer, we use the latest technology to provide all of our patients the highest level of care with the least amount of discomfort.

iTero Scanner

If you’ve ever had a dental impression taken of your teeth, you know how uncomfortable it can be, with the trays cutting into your gums and gooey putty triggering your gag reflex for several minutes.

We’ve eliminated this dreaded step with the iTero Scanner. Using a handheld wand, we take 3D images of your teeth, which are then used to draw up an individualized treatment plan for each patient. The scan takes about one to two minutes and doesn’t leave any bad-tasting residue in your mouth.

Instead of having to ship dental impressions to a lab to have Invisalign aligners or retainers made, the images taken by the iTero Scanner can be submitted digitally in a matter of seconds, reducing the wait time for appliances.

Ceph tracing

x-rays

The best orthodontic treatment fixes issues both above and below the gums. Taking x-rays and analyzing them are an important part of the process.

Ceph tracing, short for cephalometric tracing, is the process of tracing around the jaws and surrounding bone on the x-rays to determine what treatment should be used and how it will affect a patient’s facial structure.

While some orthodontists perform this tracing by hand, our doctors use digital ceph tracing for a faster, more accurate analysis.

See what our orthodontists see

We love keeping our patients informed about their treatment. One way we accomplish this is by having monitors at each station so our orthodontists can show patients exactly what they see at every appointment.
